On 22 March 2006, a team including soldiers and
officers from the British Army and the Territorial Army began their attempt
to be the first British Team to ascend Mount Everest by one of its toughest
and most dangerous routes: The West Ridge.
A
major advertising campaign was woven around this adventure. The
Scarlettec team were delighted to create and help launch the first ever
flexible DAL on Sky for COI which supports the Army Ascent on the west
Ridge of Everest. The application is accessed by pressing red whilst
watching Army Adverts, and is permanently available on Sky Active.
Unlike conventional DALs, the new Adsite is linked to the main Everest
supporting web site
www.armyoneverest.mod.com and ingests the constantly changing blogs and
progress updates automatically. In addition, regular video updates are
received from Everest, encoded and sent to broadcast.
This
new Adsite concept is a major step forward for regular TV advertisers, as it
offers the ability to keep iTV adverts fresh without the need for
commissioning new ones. |

Since January 2005, more than 7 million Sky households
across the UK have been able to access a variety of interactive services
including the TFL Journey Planner, Live Travel News and a Licensed Taxi and
Private Hire Vehicle search via Sky’s interactive TV entertainment portal
Sky Active.
This is great news for Sky viewers in Greater London, many without home
Internet access. ‘TfL London Travel Services’ through Sky Active will
further improve accessibility to travel information services by providing
on-demand information at home.
Developed by Scarlettec personnel, the service provides customers with
alternative access to the journey planning and real-time travel information
services available through existing platforms including
www.tfl.gov.uk, call
centres, WAP mobile telephone services, and broadcast news feeds for
television and radio reports. The service piggybacks on TfL's existing
infrastructure and transcodes the mobile service provided by Kizoom into a
format suitable for TV. This has the added benefit in that any new features
added to the mobile service are inherited by the TV service with little or
no new effort. |
